PURGING

                                                              painting by WP

the deed of painting
is how I process experience
a way of moving things
that live inside me outward
a way of purging

my canvas becomes a surface
onto which this experience
is layered scratched poured
rubbed and glazed
a way of purging

these experiences come from
traces of dreams and memories
imagined communication
with the dead and divine
a way of purging

paintings derived from what I see
in myself an others
showing an exploration of human nature
holding onto dead things in the dark
a way of purging

Interesting how you use painting as a means of purging yourself of superfluous and cumbersome thoughts.

I do understand what you are saying here!! Painting really IS a way of letting go. So is writing poetry, I think.

Yes, I identified with this...painting (and writing) are great ways to purge. Nicely done.

there is a lot of honesty in where those paintings are derived from...in finding ourselves in others....and letting those things go again...

I can lose myself when making art.
Lovely way to let go.

I can see how much of a release that could be... and you are very talented, too.

"holding onto dead things in the dark
a way of purging" What an intense image! Some wonderful wordsmithing here, likening painting to letting go.

I have always thought it must be wonderful to paint - to see on the canvas something created by your mind, in visible form.

So good! Thank God for the means to purge through art! I've never painted, but maybe I should try it; there are places I can't go, right now, with words.

Purging, letting go, of the negative, clearing the mind...painting, writing, dance, music...all the arts are certainly purging! It would seem that everyone should have an outlet. Loved your poem and the repetition "a way of purging".

Yes it is, as are other art forms that are not merely self indulgent. Nicely done!

Well done, i love this sense of purging, using colours and art to start afresh, to cleanse. Nicely done.
